Congratulations to Area Quarterfinalists For Grammy Music Educator Award

Two area educators have made it to the quarterfinals for the Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation.


According to a press release "The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators (K – college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools."

Of the 222 educators who have been named as quarterfinalists, two are from Monroe County, Diane Abrahamian from Penfield High School and Michael Struzik from Brighton High School.

The list will eventually be pared down to ten finalists with the winner being flown to Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards along with receiving a $10,000 honorarium. The nine other finalists will each receive a $1,000 honorarium. The schools of all ten finalists will receive matching grants.
